Our 2017 Pinot Noir is a blend of 75% Pommard clone from Hoffarth vineyard outside Gaston & 25% Holstein clone (also known as 2aa) from Bieze Vineyard in the Eola-Amity AVA. As with our Chardonnay, we use only neutral oak - unusual in Oregon, but more common in Burgundy. While our 2016 Pinot was extracted, rich & rustic, 2017 shows an elegance, even in its youth, that was not present in 2016. It is the color of sparkling rubies, with a nose full of cherry & raspberry notes, hints of cinnamon & allspice, plus a subtle earthiness. Medium-bodied, with a bright acidity, subtle tannins & integrated notes of red cherry, raspberry, allspice, cinnamon & clove. The finish is long & lean, with lingering red fruit & spice notes, subtle tannins & hints of earthiness. Sustainable.
